Local governments in Minnesota have collaborated to produce a nice 10-minute video as citizen’s guide to understanding property taxes in Minnesota, through the help of the Association of Minnesota Counties (AMC), the League of Minnesota Cities (LMC) and the Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA).
Minnesota may have the most complicated property tax system in the nation, with more than 20 classifications of residential, commercial, agricultural and recreational properties. Your property taxes may be changed due to economic or market reasons, or by decisions made by multiple-layer of local governments, by the state government, by the federal government, or even by voters locally through public referenda.
